The goblet with sailboat is a microcosm of life or, rather, of how we experience life and bear up under current circumstance. Hence, there is a saying about a “storm in a tea cup” that we use when someone is unduly worried about insignificant matters.

 

At the same time, through recreating such a complex environment as that of the sea or the atmosphere, we learn about (and get to understand) the world around us, its unity and beauty.
