ATLAS OF WANDER

During Autumn, the wind rips the leaves off the trees. Butterflies fly off to warmer territories, using eh “solar compass” to guide them. The wind of travels uplifts an artist and transports him to a far-off place. The whole world is open to the artist. The compass of his soul is guided by the sun, the miraculous paint of the south.
From Russia he goes to Germany, then, after a gigantic leap over the ocean he is in America and finally, Hawaii. This is the world that he was day-dreaming about. He painted this surf; these palm trees, without having ever seen them. Obviously, the compass of his soul was guided by these charmed isles.
The sailboat in the open ocean is a symbol of the artist’s aspiration to travel to new shores, to the unknown. It seems that the free wind of wandering blows from the open sea, while saltwater from the ocean splashes his face. This is not just the thirst for a variety of settings; it is the adventurous nature of the soul.
