Dream Catcher – According to certain Native American traditions dream, catchers were hung above the beds of children to protect them from nightmares. The web like appearance of these charms is based on the fact that spider webs catch and hold whatever they come in contact with. In this same way the dream catcher catches any harm that might be in the air as a child is sleeping, resulting in only good dreams filtering through. Some dream catchers were designed to dry out and eventually collapse by the time a child reached the age of wonderment.
