The Genesis flood narrative is among the best-known stories of the Bible. In this account, Noah labored faithfully to build the Ark at God’scommand. He saved not only his own family, but all mankind and land animals from extinction, from the flood which God created after regretting that the world was full of sin. Afterwards, God made a covenant with Noah and promised never again to destroy all of Earth's creatures.
(Noah appears as the last of the Antediluvian patriarchs, a descendant of Adam and Eve.)
There is a depiction of animals walking into the Ark by Jan Brueghel in the painting, “Noah’s Ark".
Rain fell on Earth for 40 days. When it stopped, Noah released a dove. The dove came back with an olive branch. This moment in time is captured in the painting.
The reaction to the proximity of land is portrayed by the animals. The ones closer to the front of the ark are the most active…
The “all-seeing eye” in the triangle on the sail is the symbol of God’s assistance and guidance. The Eye of God in a triangle is still used in church architecture and Christian art to symbolize the Trinity and God’s omnipresence and divine providence.
Earth itself is also an ark, traveling in the open spaces of the Universe.
