Among various cultures, the spider represents a female symbol associated with the weaving of human destiny and divination. In this painting, the strings of the harp serve as a ladder for the spider, climbing to heaven. This symbol of the ladder is present in Norwegian, Irish and Islandic ballads. Dagda, the Great Father-God, played a magic harp.
In the painting "Garden of Earthly Delights" by Hieronimus Bosch, the harp symbolizes mental turmoil and the image of the soul, represented by a figure in the harp strings.
The dew drops on the web are the tears of delight evoked by the music of the rising morning.
