• It is well known that Beethoven often used sudden changes in dynamics.
• Sharp dissonances were an important characteristic of Beethoven’s harmony. The union of two spaces: the lyrical of the mighty nature and the more intimate, dramatic – this is what we call “Beethoven space.” The feeling of drama is emphasized by the asymmetry of the diagonal boundary line. The warm color range of a house interior is adjacent to the intense silvery color shades of an external space. The moonlight flooding the painting, reminds us of the composer’s most famous sonata. The composition of the picture is built upon clashing contrasts – the age-old river flows between the mountains covered with woodlands and the music score takes flight, pulled to the ground. Throughout it all, the composer’s mask is at the forefront.
